Weekly Update #16

24th April 2016 Leave a Comment

A short weekly update this time. When you’re reading this, I’m on my way to the US for a two week holiday. The first stop is Chicago and the second half will be spent in Nashville. The TV-show with the same name is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine and I’m so excited to actually go to the city where the show is set. Anyway, back to this week and what I’ve been up to.

Experienced new drinks

I was sent two bottles of Aloe Refresh from Grace*; with two flavours I’ve never tried before. The first time I tried an Aloe Vera drink was in New York a couple of years ago. I really liked the flavour and freshness about it and surprisingly I didn’t mind the bits in it (I don’t like orange juice with bits). Since then, I’ve only ever had the original flavour so was happy to try strawberry and mango flavoured as well. They’re both really nice, summery flavours. The strawberry took a bit longer to get used to as the after taste is quite sweet. I’d buy the mango again, and maybe try it over a glass of ice.

Aloe Refresh and White Ale

I think I’ve mentioned it before, that I’d like to be able to drink ale. I’m a fan of all the flavours the offer, on paper but after one I feel quite full. This week, I picked up this white ale (Hitachino Nest Beer) that was on offer in Waitrose. I’ve seen it before but never tried it. I was a bit sceptical at first as it’s an ale but it’s actually really lovely. Who knew Japan did drinkable white ale? The bottle is too cute as well so bonus points for that.

Received a new camera

Finally I was able to sell my old camera so I could invest in a new, smaller digital compact camera. I’m so happy that it happened in time for my holiday. I get by really well with my iPhone 6 but as soon as I tested a few snaps with this, I realised what a difference a”real” camera makes. So happy it fits well in my bag or having hanging casually on my shoulder. It’s so sleek and light. I’ll be snap happy the next coming two weeks.

Enjoyed the sunshine

This week has treated us with some really nice weather. For the first time, we were able to enjoy the sunshine during lunch and sitting outside. Our offices are just next to McD so one of the days, I had a cheeky caramel sundae as dessert! It’s, not the first, nor last time I’ve been next door during lunch hours (sorry, not sorry!).

Caramel Sundae and sunglasses

Yesterday, the sun was still out in the morning so when I headed to the #BlogAtTheBeach event, these cool sunglasses were more than appropriate. I had a great day at the event, met many familiar faces, had a laugh with Crunch Corner and met new people, even a fellow ‘Kalmarit’. I took away some key learnings for this blog too and I’ll be sharing them all in a post when I’m back from my holiday.

I hope you’ve had a great week! take care these two weeks when I’m away. I’ve scheduled in posts so you won’t miss me too much but I’ll have to skip the Weekly Update next week.
