As I mentioned last week, this week and next will be a bit calmer than previous to save money for my trip and spend time doing some more research for it. I feel like I’ve managed well, but still been up to many fun things, mainly food related. It’s time for the weekly update!
#LIF16 Launch Event
On Tuesday night, Headrow House was host for Leeds Indie Food Festival’s launch event. I’ve only been to Headrow House once before, and enjoyed a delicious gin and tonic. This time, gin was on the menu yet again but mixed with a mango drink instead. I really enjoyed it, a good mix to give a refreshing and summery taste.
The food was amazing too – I need to come back and eat a proper meal. We were served steak and tripple cooked chips. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted lovely with mayonnaise and fresh, home made pesto.
It was a great night, finding out more about the #LIF16 festival and the support Leeds show for local and independent restaurants and bars. More on what events I want to go to in Tuesday’s blog post.
All Bar One New Menu Launch
Another great food related event. All Bar One on Millennium Square invited to a night full of good food and own mixed cocktails. We got a good table, next to the kitchen, which meant that every time a new plate of food came out, we got first dips to try it.
All Bar One has an extended menu with a variety of different foods. I really like the calamari, which I had at my last visit too, but I must say the feta frittata was amazing and so were the spinach and cheese filled samosas. I was too busy eating to take pictures of all the food we tried (sorry, not sorry).
I liked that we got a chance to make our own cocktails. Not too complicated, a set recipe talked through by the bartender. I mixed an ABSOLUT-INI which is Absolut Vodka Citron, mixed with cranberry juice, pomegranate purée and sugar syrup. It was quite sour but still good. I never saw All Bar One as a cocktail bar but that’s how they want to position themselves as so I’ll be back for more, maybe even a master class.
Lounge and Running Wear
On Friday, we celebrated #WearYourPyjamasToWorkDay at work by turning up in our pyjamas. I opted for a mix of lounge and running wear to shorten down my time of having to get changed after work, before running home.
I ran my fastest run ever this week! I’m so proud of myself and can’t wait to go for my next run. Again, the weather is improving too so I got a chance to finally wear my skull running tights. Doing well is one of the reasons I love running so much. I talked about a few other reasons (7 to be exact) to why I run in my latest post. Read it here if you haven’t already.
This week had a lovely end to it, spending all day in Malton getting to know more about the village, it’s food culture, local producers and also having a go at cooking food from all over the world with a Yorkshire twist. This is one of the best blogger events I’ve been too! It’s definitely up there with the #SleepWellShopWell event which I covered in three posts (1, 2 and 3). Looks like something similar will happen from this day as I have so much to share with you.
How’s your week been? What have you eaten and celebrated?
