Mountains and sea in Madeira

I’m from Sweden but I’ve never been to see the Northern Lights. Sweden is massive so when you live in the south watching the Northerns Lights isn’t something that happens on a daily basis, far from it.

I have only seen the Northern Lights on TV. I still remember the TV license advert which features them, and I reckon that doesn’t at all give them justice. Anyhow, I’d love to go and see them (who doesn’t) and hopefully Transun could make it happen for me.

They have asked me, and all other bloggers, to write about my top three destinations that I have on my travel bucket list. Here it goes.

I haven’t been to many European cities. When I was younger I decided to go further away as I thought it would be less likely to when having a family etc. Europe is more accessible and full of destinations to go to during a weekend so I thought I would save it for later (now).

Prague is one of my top destinations in Europe. I’d love to go and after hearing friends who have been talking about the city it sounds even more amazing. When I go I really want to visit the skull church, Sedlec Ossuary, which is located slightly outside the city.

Skulls in Sedlec Ossuary

Some of you already know about my obsession with skulls so I think it would be really cool to go visit this church which is full of skulls. Garland after garland of skulls hanging down from the ceiling and other decorations made of bones from dead bodies. Maybe a bit creepy but also very fascinating!

My mum once said her dream was to move to Nashville and become a country singer but then her kids happened. I hope she’s not too sad about that but I can’t argue with her, it would be really cool to go to Nashville.

Outside of The Bluebird Cafe

Last year I watched a Swedish TV show that was shot in Nashville and it looks amazing. It’s so cool that this little city is full of country loving citizens, and tourists of course. I’d love to go to ‘The Bluebird Cafe’ and listen to some great live music. Its looks amazing sitting so close to the singers and feel consumed up of music.

For now I have to keep dreaming and settle for watching the drama series with the same name; ‘Nashville’. I guess you can imagine what it’s about and I’m not proud I’m hooked on it but who cares, I can watch whatever I want.

When I go travelling I love to explore. I don’t really think travelling is for lying on your backside doing nothing. This year I’ve changed my mind! I’m in need for a sunny holiday doing nothing more than soaking up the sun, go for cooling swims in a clear blue sea, and drink refreshing cocktails all night.

Mountains and sea in Madeira

Madeira seems perfect for my requirements. There are flights from Leeds too so hopefully my dream can come true this year. The island looks beautiful with mountains, sandy beaches, blue sea and tropical flowers. I want to go now! I could split the week in two: explore a few days and rest the others. I’ve also heard that Madeira has a cable car – how cool is that?!

What’s your top three travel destinations? If you too want to win a trip to see the Northern Lights, just follow these simple steps:

1. Write a blog post about your top three travel bucket list destinations and why you want to go there
2. Tweet your blog post to @Transun using the hashtag #TransunLights

The competition ends 30th May 2015

Good Luck!
