Earlier this year, I received a £50 Amazon gift card from work because in May, I won ‘Employee of the Month’. I’m super chuffed that I won, the nominations were incredible. I’ve got some lovely colleagues and it’s so nice to feel appreciated by them all as well.
Aside from honour, you receive a personalised ‘Employee of the Month’ mug (you can’t own too many tea mugs) and a £50 voucher of your choice. When the choice is endless, it’s too difficult for me to settle on one store or website to spend it with. I also prefer lots of smaller treats than spending the full amount on one single piece. So, of course I ended up choosing a £50 gift card from Amazon. I thought I’d share a post with you all, sharing what I spent the money on.
Things to Buy on Amazon
Do you remember when Amazon started? I do. It started off as a book store, a place to buy University and lecture resources. How Amazon has changed. These days you can buy absolutely everything, even things you didn’t know existed or worse, things you didn’t know you needed until now.
Sticking to its original purpose, I ordered some books as part of my £50 spend. Two fictional books and a cook book. Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart and Home Going by Yaa Gyasi. Two books that both have been highly recommended across my social media but also by near and loved ones. I don’t really need new books. My to read pile is constantly growing and this and last year, I’ve been really bad with picking up books to read. Hopefully these additions will spark some interest again.
The cookbook is by The Fitness Chef, his first which is called Still Tasty. I follow him on social media and feel very inspired every time I see a new post. With Prime Day, I managed to bag this book for half its original price. I like the layout of it so I’m hoping to find inspiration to cook and also in a healthier way.
It’s summer time and I miss the seaside so much. I haven’t been able to go yet this year but hoping to jump on a train later this month (when the sun is back) and go for a swim. It’s funny to think I went swimming in the freezing cold late last year and early this year but yet haven’t dived in during warmer temperatures.
Anyways, when it’s time, I can’t leave my belongings behind on the beach. Sorry, but I don’t trust people, so I will have to bring my phone and other valuables with me out in the sea. That’s when this phone pouch will come in handy. I read the reviews and seen photos so it should be really secure. It came as a bundle with a purse as well where I can keep my cards, keys etc.
Apparently you subconsciously choose your drink of choice in your late 20s. I’m not sure I drank gin back then but I do now and I love it so much! There are plenty of brands and flavours out there to choose from but I rate Edinburgh Gin as one of the best. When I saw that they had a new flavour out – Gooseberry & Elderflower – I had to get my hands on a bottle. I love elderflower and gooseberry. Both very common flavours in Sweden so I’m really excited to try this one. Also, it looks great amongst its siblings on my bar cart.
If you received a £50 Amazon gift card today, what would you buy?
