Things I’m Looking Forward to in 2018

Despite not having the funding to be able to go abroad this year and feeling a bit low about it, I’ve realised I’ve got so many other fun plans this year to be excited about. Life isn’t all about traveling abroad, enjoying staycations and family and friends visiting is as much fun. Sometimes you don’t even have to leave your hometown to have a good time.

Here’s what I’m looking forward to in 2018, with more to come.

UK Citizenship Ceremony

You’re probably sick of me now mentioning my UK citizenship in every single post. I do apologise as more will come but I’m just so bloody excited about it and proud. I worked really hard last year for it and I’m glad to see it paid off. It’s seeing 2018 off to a good start.

Festival of the Dead

Leeds is one of the cities that the Festival of the Dead is visiting this year. I’m really excited to dress up all in black and have a night of deadly fun. I’ll be re-purposing a black skeleton dress I wore for Halloween last year. I’m not the best with the face make up so luckily there are professional makeup artists that can do it on the evening. They’ll also be giant skull processions, dancers and confetti show. Anyone else going? Tickets are still available here.

Parental Visit

My parents are coming to stay with me for 5 days. It’s my dad’s 70th and he didn’t fancy staying at home for it. I’m excited to show them my new flat and surrounding area. My mum has seen the flat but it was quite bare then and not as homely as now.

One of the days we’ll head over to Liverpool and hopefully if the weather allows spend one day in Scarborough. I’ve of course got some fun surprises to celebrate my dad but I can’t reveal them hear as he does read my blog now and again.

The Royal Wedding

Prince Harry is finally getting his Meghan on May 19th and together with friends we’re planning to make a massive deal out of it. Think bunting, themed cakes and biscuits, paper crowns, Union Jack clothing etc. I’m so excited for this and I hope it’ll be a nice day.

London Trip

My friends have already booked their flights and I’ll be sorting out train tickets this coming payday. We’ve also found a nice and affordable hotel to stay in. The Harry Potter Studio Tour is also booked. All we need to do now is plan where to eat and what to see. Coven Garden and Neal’s Yard is only on the list but if you’ve got any similar hidden gems to recommend or cool food places to try out, please comment below.

70’s Party

My best friend and her boyfriend are both turning big numbers this year so combining them to a 70’s party. I’ll be heading over to Sweden to celebrate with them. I think it can be really fun! I so do hope it’ll be an amazing summer this year so I can get a tan and swim whilst there. Just because there is no summer like a Swedish summer.

The above is already planned for but I’m also hoping to get a returning visit from my brother and his girlfriend. My best friend is also due a trip to Leeds and if not for the Royal Wedding, she’ll hopefully come to brighten up the autumn months.

What are you up to in 2018? Anything extra fun to look forward to?

Congratulations!!! I’m so happy for you. It must be so exciting to get the citizenship. I love the idea of celebrating with the Royal Wedding. I will do that. For William’s wedding I had to go out (to an interview, so annoying), and didn’t see all of it. Now I want to make the most too. I will have bunting too, sounds like a fab idea.
I’ve only came back from London and I’ve been to Wallace Collection, it’s a fab museum to visit if you like classical art, armouries, and amazing homes (not so much if you are not keen on those though). 🙂
