Taking a Gin Journey around Leeds with Slingsby Gin

Let’s go on a gin journey around Leeds. A Slingsby gin journey to be more exact! A couple of days ahead of the event, our meeting point was revealed but the rest of the bars involved came as a surprise throughout the day. During four or so hours, we talked, learnt and sipped on nothing but gin. It was gin o’clock all afternoon. Slingsby Gooseberry | Poison Bar Our gin journey ended at Slingsby’s beginning and started with their most recent gin flavour: gooseberry, which happens to be my favourite of theirs. I like it best served with Mediterranean tonic but the bartenders at Poison Bar in Leeds made a…

  • Portobello Road Gin

Classic Gin Cocktails with Portobello Road Gin

Gin is my go to spirit. Even more so when I learnt it’s the best if you’re wanting to keep your calorie intake on the low. A gin and slimline tonic is around 60 calories, compared to a pint of beer which is around 200. I have yet to decide which my favourite gin brand is, there are too many fighting for the top position, but I know a good brand when I see it. Ever heard of Portobello Road Gin? Of course you have but perhaps you’ve not been acquainted with some of the classic cocktails you can make with it. I was invited to a gin masterclass with…

    Christmas Treats for Festive Meets

It’s less than a week till Christmas! As always, it’s come around quick. I decorated my flat at the beginning of December, in time for the first of advent. I prefer the build up so I want to enjoy the decorations for as long as possible. The biggest part of Christmas is the food and drinks and although I’m not hosting any Christmas parties or gatherings, it’s nice to have some treats and alcoholic drinks available. A Christmas Spin with Gin Normally I would put prosecco and mulled wine at the top of the list for Christmas tipples but this year I’m finding myself drinking gin. Not only because it…

    Spring Wishlist

Happy Tuesday! Do you feel like spring is taking forever showing its face? I do! The snow that came out of nowhere the last couple of weeks was so pretty but the havoc it causes and the timing of it did not suit me. On Sunday, I cleaned my flat and even spring cleaned the fridge. All this whilst having the balcony door wide open. The sun was shining in and fresh spring air came through. As it starts to get warmer and giving spring hints, I start thinking what new things I can get. Turns out, there’s quite a lot of things on my spring wishlist. 1. Chinos I…

  • Gin Festival in Harrogate

Gintastic Time at the Gin Festival in Harrogate

I’ve been to cocktail festivals before and beer festivals but the organisation that goes into the Gin Festival and I’m prepared to say it’s my favourite so far. I was overwhelmed entering the Harrogate Convention Centre but once I got the hang of how the festival works, I loved it. There are four different bars; A, B, C and D which have gins allocated to them depending on taste and origin – A & B serving British gin, C international and D fruity. These bars are full of hanging gin bottles and you can simply point on the one you’d like to try and it’ll be served. The bartenders also…
