Taking a Gin Journey around Leeds with Slingsby Gin

Let’s go on a gin journey around Leeds. A Slingsby gin journey to be more exact! A couple of days ahead of the event, our meeting point was revealed but the rest of the bars involved came as a surprise throughout the day. During four or so hours, we talked, learnt and sipped on nothing but gin. It was gin o’clock all afternoon. Slingsby Gooseberry | Poison Bar Our gin journey ended at Slingsby’s beginning and started with their most recent gin flavour: gooseberry, which happens to be my favourite of theirs. I like it best served with Mediterranean tonic but the bartenders at Poison Bar in Leeds made a…

Classic Gin Cocktails with Portobello Road Gin

Gin is my go to spirit. Even more so when I learnt it’s the best if you’re wanting to keep your calorie intake on the low. A gin and slimline tonic is around 60 calories, compared to a pint of beer which is around 200. I have yet to decide which my favourite gin brand is, there are too many fighting for the top position, but I know a good brand when I see it. Ever heard of Portobello Road Gin? Of course you have but perhaps you’ve not been acquainted with some of the classic cocktails you can make with it. I was invited to a gin masterclass with…

    Pintura Gin Garden

If there’s any garden to have, it’s a gin garden. I know I not long ago said that rum is the new gin and I still stand by it but when the sun is out and you need a drink to cool down, Pintura’s Gin Garden is the perfect spot! Before jetting of on holiday, I finally made it to Pintura Kitchen (next to M&S and opposite Clarke’s in Leeds) for a couple of well deserved gin cocktails. Outside, they’ve managed to create a cosy gin garden on a small and maybe not the best located space. It’s a highly pedestrian trafficked area but behind the fake bushes you don’t…

The Gins of The Cocktail Experience

The Cocktail Experience in Leeds is back again this year. I was unable to attend last year but will be there with bells on this time. Any opportunity to try a mix of delicious cocktails from different local pubs and bars. Earlier this week, I attended the preview event to get a feel for what we can expect on March 3rd. I’ve picked out my three favourites not to miss at the main event and surprisingly, they’re all gin based. RUBY – Jake’s Bar Jake’s are known for creating all their own ingredients used in all their cocktails. They’re planning a really cool concept; letting guests sign up for a masterclass…
