Love Lagree, a New Fitness Gym in Leeds

Leeds is starting to become a bit of a fitness mecca with new gyms and fitness classes being introduced. As a fitness enthusiast I don’t mind one bit. The latest and hottest trend coming from across the pond, also in London, is Lagree. Lagree is a high intensity, low impact training method which many celebrities say has transformed their bodies. So if you’re not into classes filled with jumping exercises and prefer working with your own body over heavy weights, this is the perfect training method for you. I love trying new things so when owners and instructors Lorraine Jenkins and Craig Noble invited me down to their Love Lagree* studio…

How I Take Care of My Wellbeing

Last week, I went to a wellbeing event at The Body Shop and it was such a good evening. They invited Phoenix, a Health and Wellbeing charity who talked us through some easy exercises we can all do at work and at home if stress (good or bad) is creeping up on us. They also gave us hand and back massages and I feel like this is something I should do more of. My body felt like jelly the next day but in a good way, totally relaxed and that’s only from a short session. Kim who works at The Body Shop and also recently launched Keep Real, talked to…

    What’s in my Gym Bag

I feel like I live in my gym bag. Most days I go to the gym, before work or during the lunch hour. I also cycle to work which means I can’t bring the biggest gym bag to fit it all. My Kånken bag is a life saviour: it’s the perfect size to fit everything I need but I have to think carefully how I pack it all. This picture only shows a snapshot of what I bring but it didn’t all fit in one shot 🙂 Anyway, whilst I’m being fitness good, I thought I’d share what my little Kånken bag is carrying around to make my healthy and active…

Motivational Reasons for Exercising in the Morning

We all have our preferences when it comes to what type of exercise we enjoy and feel is beneficial for us. The same goes for the time of the day when we do it. I prefer a workout in the morning over evening. Previously I never thought it would be possible during the work week, only at weekends but after a couple of months of trying it out, I’ve found that exercising in the morning really works for me. If you’re thinking of starting your day with exercise, here are a couple of tips which will hopefully motivate you but before I start, worth noting is that I’m flexible with…

  • Women's Running 10k

Turning a Disappointment into an Achievement | Women’s Running 10K

It’s a week and a bit since I completed Women’s Running 10k in Temple Newsam. It was their first visit to Leeds and also the last race in their 10k series this year. I was really excited to run the race and that it would be in Temple Newsam, rather than along boring Kirkstall Road like most other Leeds based 10ks. I had been training prior to the run and the week before, my long run felt really good and I thought I’d be able to reach my aim – finish just under an hour. This did not happen and I was really upset with myself passing the finish line. In…
