Breakfast at Hyde Park Book Club

I used to live in the LS6 area and on my weekend morning walks, I’d always pass the old petrol station turned in to a fancy dress shop. I always had the intention of coming back during opening hours to have a mooch around, but I never did. Since moving away, the fancy dress shop has gotten smaller and smaller and in conjunction, the Hyde Park Book Club has opened up. A cafe and events space all in one. Think Brudenell Social Club but more a day time venue. A couple of weekends ago, I was invited to come down and try their breakfast menu. If you don’t mind me…

    Biscuit Decorating with Bloom Bakers

On a very windy night, myself and a handful other bloggers visited Bloom Bakers at Carousel in Headingley. Carousel a rotating cafe which hosts various pop ups and workshops throughout the year. Bloom Bakers is a Germanic biscuit  and cake baking duo (Lisa & Saskia) who had set up their Christmas biscuit decorating workshop. On arrival, the tables were set up with individual workstations, including rolling pins, decorating props, icing and food colouring. It all looked so colourful and inviting! After a cup of spicy hot chocolate, I was ready to get stuck in. Saskia and Lisa had already prebaked the biscuits for us which cut out a lot of…

  • Hive Leeds

Hive | Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Cafe

There’s a new café in Leeds called Hive and they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. If I had a job in city centre I’d probably come here a lot but sadly I work outside of town. Another sad thing is they’re not open during the weekend which is when I’d love to have a nearby breakfast place to call my local. I do get it though, the Wellington Place in Leeds mainly consists of offices rather than flats which means their main customers will be business people. I am thankful they’re open till late hours so even I can fit in a dinner here on a weeknight. My first visit however…

  • Stories Roundhay

Stories Café | A Corner of Scandinavia in Leeds

Earlier this month, I met up with Victoria from Apartment Number 4* for a late breakfast/early brunch. I remembered coming across Stories on social media previously so when deciding where to go, I suggested this Scandinavian inspired café. You can guess why I wanted to go, ha. Despite hearing about ‘hygge’ and ‘lagom’ everywhere nowadays, I only know of IKEA where I can get my dose of Scandi style in Leeds. Luckily now I can also add Stories to my list. Stories is a small café in Roundhay, near the Oakwood clock. In fact it’s right opposite from Jameson’s Tea Rooms so if you want to enjoy a long breakfast and…

    #LighthouseSpeedFriending Event

I love people! I genuinely do. There are so many inspiring people out there and I love hearing their stories. Don’t get me wrong, I can dislike people too – or more so some of the silly actions people take (especially so in the last couple of weeks, where is our world heading?) – but that’s not what this post is about. This post is about an event I attended which proved that there are lovely people out thire supporting and working hard for other people to have a good life. Last month, I attended the #LighthouseSpeedFriending event in Cookridge, Leeds. The event was held at the gorgeous Lighthouse Union Store…
