AD | PR sample*. Since COVID-19, lots of independent bakes and sweet box companies have opened up. Some are local and others delivering nationwide. I love it! As the sweet tooth I am I think it’s great that you can have treats delivered straight to your home.
Sweet Treats LDS
Sweet Treats LDS is one of them, a sweet box delivery available in Leeds. They have lots of fun international (mainly American) treats to choose from. You can pick and mix what you want or order Mystery Boxes where they pick randomly for you. The Mystery Boxes are available in four sizes: small (£10), medium (£20), large (£30) and mega (£50). On demand, they’ll make boxes up to a value of £500. Imagine that, a treat box worth £500!! I received their medium sized Mystery Box to try and I loved it. It came with so many fun treats and drinks that I’ve never tried before. Take a look at this sweet list and tell me you don’t want one for yourself.
Sweets
Airheads Mystery White – it says on the packaging it’s artificially flavoured and I can taste that. When I opened the packet I knew it was going to be white but it’s almost luminous white, as if it would glow in the dark. Perhaps it does, I didn’t try. It does taste artificial and sugary, that’s pretty much it.
Airheads Cherry – similar in taste to the ‘Mystery White’ in artificial and sugary. This has a bit more flavour with the sour cherry kick. Almost so sour my face crinkle up slightly. Again, a luminous colour, this time pink!
Laffy Taffy Candy Rope Banana – a soft chewy candy rope with banana flavour. It taste amazing! If you love Banana Skids then you’ll love this. Artificial flavours? Yes, definitely but somehow it tastes just like a banana. The packaging come with two jokes**: 1. What will a chatty caterpillar become? 2. What kind of time doesn’t need a clock?
Laffy Taffy Candy Rope Cherry – same as above but a different flavour: Cherry. Cherry flavoured sweets and bakes are the best, and this doesn’t disappoint. I thought it would taste similar to a soft cherry chew sweet but I love the sour kick to it. I wouldn’t have mind a stronger cherry taste but still – happy. Two more jokes***: 1. What do mad bees scream out? 2. What colour screams hello?
Nerds Rope – if you love sweet sweets, this rope is for you. Sweet and crunchy Nerds on a soft and chewy rope. I have sweet tooth, for sure but even this is too sweet for me. I love the idea though of having Nerds on a string than served from a small box.
Swedish Fish – In Sweden these soft and chewy fish sweets come in different colours and flavours and there’s also a black version that tastes like salty liquorice (my favourite). It’s a tasty combination eating a black and red fish, like these, together.
Pop Rocks Crackling Gum – This was the most fun to try. The little bag holds one chewing gum, in the shape of crackling candy. Once they touch your mouth they start popping and when chewed turn into a bubble gum. It’s so much fun!! The fun is over quickly and so is the Hubb Bubba flavour of the gum.
Warheads – Sour and fruity sweet chewy sweets. Three flavours: lemon/cherry, blueberry/orange and green apple/lemon. These worms are very sweet and sour and I love them. Extra chewy so you need to bite and chew properly. My favourite flavour is the cherry and lemon combo and least favourite is blueberry/orange.
Chocolate
Baby Ruth – a chocolate bar with dry roasted peanuts, rich caramel and smooth nougat. It’s sort of a combination between a Snickers and a Mars bar, but more towards a Snickers. Dare I say it tastes better than a snickers? I love snickers but this didn’t taste as sugary/sweet. I’d definitely eat a Baby Ruth again!
Cadbury Twirl Caramilk – this is a chocolate bar with swirls and curls of caramilk chocolate, covered in dairy milk. The original twirl taste and texture is in there but with the caramilk swirls, it’s softer and lighter in taste. It compliments the twirl chocolate really well. If I had to choose between the original and this, caramilk would win.
KitKat Birthday Cake – I love a KitKat chocolate bar. Don’t at me suggesting it’s a chocolate biscuit because it’s not! Anyway I’ve tried a white KitKat before and enjoyed it but this is a step better. A white KitKat with birthday sprinkles in the creme chocolate topping. It gives it a warmer taste and I love the crunchiness from the sprinkles. It’s almost like popping candy.
KitKat Mint & Dark Chocolate – I love dark chocolate and I love mint chocolate so this is the dream for me. Basically like an After Eight but in a KitKat format. Each bar is bottom half dark chocolate and top half mint creme.
m&m’s Caramel – I love m&m’s but I always go for the peanut version. I have tried another caramel version which I liked but they were very sweet. These however, are not the same. I was surprised trying one to realise it’s soft in the middle. Almost like chewing a drage chocolate egg. They’re really moreish and not as sweet as the other caramel version I’ve tried.
Milky Way Salted Caramel – Eating this, I’m not sure I’ve had a Milky Way before. I tasted a Mars bar more than anything, with a bit of salt in it. It’s described as having milk chocolate, creamy caramel, crunchy salt and smooth nougat. It has all of that but I wish it was saltier. I would have liked the caramel to be salty, not just a couple of salt crystals in there.
Mini Charleston Chew – These chocolate sweets are from the 1920s and named after the popular dance at the time – Charleston. This pack holds mini Charleston Chews but the flavour and taste is the same. Chewy vanilla flavoured nougat with a chocolate coating. They’re really nice and fun to eat.
Cookies
Moon Pie – soft corn flavoured cookies layered with marshmallow whip and then covered in dark chocolate. This is a double decker so I don’t know if the original would only be two cookies and one layer of marshmallow whip and this has three and two. I wouldn’t have mind more marshmallow in there, I can hardly taste it. The cookies are overpowering with their corn taste. It’s fluffy and soft to eat, not too sweet but still lots of water afterwards is needed. The packaging recommend to heat it in the microwave for a couple of seconds and enjoy as a dessert. I read that too late…
Pop Tarts Froot Loops – Can you imagine, I’ve only had one pop tart before, in my entire life. I think it was strawberry flavoured and I heated it up in the toaster. I don’t have a toaster at home, or a microwave so I tried this just as it is. It says on the packaging that it’s ok. I personally think they taste better in a toaster if I’m honest. Froot Loops is an interesting flavour, on you can’t pinpoint so I’m going to go with a mix of different fruit flavours.
Keebler Bite Size Cookies m&m’s Minis – I love a crunchy cookie and that’s exactly what these are. Bite size cookies topped with mini m&m’s. A pack is gone in a heartbeat but that’s ok. They work really well with the chocolate milk drink.
Drinks
Cacaolat Chocolate Milk – When I was little, I used to mix cacao and milk all the time and enjoy cold. O’Boy is the name of the chocolate powder we had in Sweden. This is an already mixed chocolate milk drink in a retro glass bottle. It’s the original x. I don’t think I’ve seen a milk drink with a beer bottle cap on before. The taste is amazing. It’s like chocolate velvet sliding down your tongue and throat. I love it! Rich chocolate flavour without any grains or tasting sugary.
Mountain Dew Throwback – this is the original Mountain Dew drink. A yellow-green coloured drink with citrus flavours. The Throwback version tastes the same as the new version but it’s slightly sweeter. It uses real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup like the new soda does. The UK version isn’t the same as the American because some ingredients are banned in the UK. If you’ve never been to the US or tried their version, I suggest you do. I fell in love with this drink the first time I visited.
Fanta Peach – This drink was so much better than I thought. Peach is a delicious flavour and this Fanta is bursting with it! Fanta Lemon is otherwise my favourite but I think this might have taken the top spot. If you like peach, get you hands on one of these cans. I think it would work really well in peach cocktails.
My favourites from this list are: Baby Ruth, Charleston Chew, KitKat Mint, Laffy Taffy, Warheads, Fanta Peach and Cacaolat. What are you favourite cookies, drinks, sweets, chocolates? Have you tried any of the stuff from this list? Anything you’d like to try after reading it?

I tried the M&Ms caramel in Australia and I’m also intrigued by the white birthday cake flavoured KitKat. Anything with white chocolate is always a winner for me. The salted caramel Milky Way wouldn’t be my thing…salted caramel feels wrong to me as I’ve got a very sweet tooth and caramel is already perfect.
White chocolate is tasty isn’t it? 🙂 I find caramel can be too sweet sometimes so I think it’s perfect when salt is added. Although I wouldn’t mind more salt. But that’s because I love salty liquorice I think.
