It’s become a tradition for me to write about the street food line-up in Trinity Kitchen. Each and every time I’m surprised how quickly time pass between each changeover. How is it the 1st June and start of summer already? The summer line-up is as follows: The Luxury Diner, Burger & Lobster Brothers, Wanderer Junk Food, Jenny’s Jerk Chicken, Thai Khrim, Vincenzo the Prosecco Van and Jah Jyot.
A couple of news ones but also old time favourites and the latter two staying on from last time. I’m not at all surprised that Jah Jyot are staying on from the last cycle, I raved about them in my previous Trinity Kitchen post. Also, everyone loves prosecco and the van is so cute so again not surprised they’ve kept Vincenzo the Prosecco Van as well. In summer time you can never go wrong with a refreshing glass of prosecco.
Coming back on popular demand is Thai Khrim, fresh Thai ice cream made in front of you. You decide the flavour and for an extra 50p also unlimited topping. Another well timed vendor to have here during the summer. Comparing to last time they were here I found the ice cream less sweet this time around, which meant I could finish it all. This is the regular size, already massive but they do a large as well. Perhaps a good option if you’re sharing between two.
I chose vanilla ice cream, mixed with digestive biscuit and jammy dodger. Added some strawberry sauce in there and for topping I chose whipped cream, fresh strawberries, coconut sprinklers and a jammy dodger biscuit for decoration. All really nice flavours which work well together.
Burger and Lobster Brothers
Instantly a favourite as soon as the burger arrived, without even trying it. Beef burger, topped with grilled halloumi and served with thin potato wedges covered in lobster sauce. A luxurious twist to street food indeed, and I love it. Really nice meat and you can never go wrong with halloumi. Also, I’m not a massive fan of wedges as I find they can get very mushy inside but to finely cut them like this solves that problem and is to me an instant hit. The sauce is super delicious as well.
The Luxury Diner
Another luxury street food offering: The Luxury Diner. Luxury in the sense that they are super friendly, passionate about what they do and serve up the most incredible chilli Cheese Dog and Everything Fries. So many flavours bouncing around in the mouth.
You must try their Chilli Cheese dog with house cheese sauce, sour cream, five star chilli, hot sauce, crushed corn chips and coriander. Coriander always wins me over, is there a better herb/spice? ‘Everything Fries’ covered in, yes you guessed it, EVERYTHING! They also do vegetarian and vegan options so something for everyone and if that’s not luxury, what is?
Wanderer Junk Food
There is more vegan food to enjoy at Wanderer Junk Food whos full menu is vegan. Their tag line is “Dirty food with a clean conscience. Vegan food so wrong its right.” First time for me trying jackfruit and I think the texture of it and even the taste is fairly meaty, a fruitier pulled pork I guess. So if you still want the meaty feel to a vegan dish, I can recommend their Totchos – crunchy tater tots, spicy Cajun slaw, sriracha sauce, jalapeños & scallions with jackfruit.
Sadly Jenny’s Jirk Chicken was closed when we went so I didn’t get a chance to try their food, hopefully next time. Have you been to Trinity Kitchen yet? Which of these would be your must-eats?
*I was kindly invited down to Trinity Kitchen’s Supper Club to try all this food free of charge. All views and words are as always my own.
