I never intended to do a lot of shopping whilst on holiday but it’s something I just can’t avoid. When I don’t have anything particular in mind that I would like to buy, it’s a lot more fun to go shopping. I haven’t had a chance to go over all the pictures from my holiday so I thought I’d start with a shopping post. Here’s my shopping haul in Chicago.
I did walk along the Magnificent Mile, Chicago’s well known shopping street, but unfortunately, non of these shops fit my budget so I satisfied with only admiring from the outside. My shopping took place on North State Street instead, where I found a lot more money friendly shops.
Yes, I know we have Forever 21 in the UK too but it’s very rare I get a chance to visit as they still haven’t opened up a store in Leeds. I wonder why that is? When I went to New York a couple of years ago, I bought a few things here and I have in London and Manchester too.
The Chicago shop isn’t as big and to be honest, didn’t have as much stock as I was hoping for. I did find this red t-shirt and just had to have it. I’m a jeans and t-shirt girl and I need to brighten up my wardrobe a bit. I really like the seam in the middle at the back. It’s a very subtle detail that makes this t-shirt bring something extra.
I’ve never heard of this shop before. As far as I’m aware, we don’t have Torrid in the UK and they don’t ship over here either. Many of their clothes have skull patterns so you can imagine my excitement going in. It’s a plus size shop so unfortunately, not many clothes fit me and it’s a shame as I found thee bikini. Luckily, nail polish and perfume doesn’t carry a size so I could happily walk home with these cool skull bottles. They had an offer to buy three nail polishes for $10, so I did and I also bought a roll on perfume.
Bath & Body Works
Another brand we don’t have in the UK. Strange but I suppose The Body Shop doesn’t want any competition. I could spend a whole day at Bath & Body Works, they have so many nice skincare products to choose from. I recognised a few from my last visit but went for a new range.
I’m not sure if I’ve ever come across pear scented body care products before, most likely not. I really like this Iced Pear scent, it’s very fresh and for some reason reminds me of my childhood. They had an offer, buy 3 get 1 free, so I got a body wash, a body scrub and a body lotion, all in the same scent.
Sephora is a dangerous shop to enter, so much make-up! It’s a girls dream and very difficult not to leave without a purchase or two. I think I did really well, I have all the make-up I need and since they don’t sell Soap & Glory, I couldn’t find a decent brow kit.
I did however found a really cool perfume brand, Nest. If I was rich, I’d buy them all, in full bottles, for display. I’m not rich so I had to choose carefully when picking a scent. Dahlia & Vines was the lucky one to come home with me and from now this roll on perfume will be forever in my handbag to make me smell lovely all day long.
On my way out, I also picked up these two face masks. I can’t remember the last time I used a face mask, I never take the time to do so. What’s great with these is that they’re masks to put on over night. I always sleep so this will be perfect, killing two birds with one stone.
One of the days in Chicago, I spent in Wicker Park. It’s a lovely area with lots of vintage and quirky shops. I did buy a dress in one of the vintage shops. You’ll have to wait to see that till I get around doing an outfit post featuring it.
My nails has been really bad lately so when I walked past this shop, Mojo Spa, I had to go in and see if they could help me out. I was recommended their Nail Candy, a nail treatment for brittle nails like mine and it also softens the cuticles. It smells of peppermint so I don’t mind using it on my nails and hopefully soon, I’ll see an improvement. Handmade in Chicago with a lot of celebrity endorsements should hopefully do the trick.
Which city would you visit in the US for best shopping? What shops do you go to for a good haul?
