Personal and Blog Goals for 2018 | Mid Year Review

Where did 2018 disappear to? It’s less than six months till Christmas, how scary is that?! January and February went so slow but I couldn’t tell you where the rest of the months have gone. I feel like it might be too soon to look at the list of goals I set back in January as I fear I’ve not had enough time to complete any. But, we’re half way through the year so let’s take a look and see what I need to focus more on in terms of personal and blog goals.

Personal Goals

Pay off Citizenship Application

I was approved and I’ve got my citizenship! I’ve still got money to pay off but I know I can before the end of the year. I am very poor, that’s for sure but it’s  worth it in the long run. I’m trying hard to be good with my money and only spend when I have to. It did help a lot getting back on my bike and cycle to work instead of taking the bus. It’s crazy how expensive public transport can get.

Eat Healthier

I want to say I’ve got better at eating healthy this year. I’ve only had x takeaways and the snacking outside of work has gone down severely. I did give it up completely during lent, or at least tried my best and since I’ve not had much at all. I’m still not as good as I want but I find that if I don’t treat myself now and again I’m going tohave a major set back and starting eating nothing but snacks. I’m still snack free in the office which is great. A year and a half without an office snack! YES!

Give Blood

I keep forgetting that I set giving blood as one of my goal soon this year. I’ve thought about it that I should drop in or at least sign back up online. In fact, I’m going to do it right after I’ve finished this post. Shame on me, such an easy trying to do, especially when they now offer Saturday time slots as well.

Make a Start on a Tattoo Sleeve

This won’t happen this year. I can’t afford it so I’m going to leave it till next year. I have done some research though and noted down what I’d like in terms of pattern, style and which local artist to get the honour of tattooing it.

Blog Goals

Revamp the Blog

The changes I made to the blog feels longer ago than it happened this year. I was tired of my (according to me) childish looking logo and as much as I love red I wanted a fresher look. I changed the logo and freed up some space on the front page. There are still lots of admin things I can do with the blog and when I have time I do. I might never be 100% happy with it but at least now I think it looks nice. I wrote a post about the changes I made here if you fancy a read.

Set Up Pinterest

I’ve set it up but I find it needs a lot of time and love, like all other social media platforms. Working full time I just don’t have the time but the foundation is there. I have found myself using Pinterest for bullet journal ideas, balcony ideas and travel suggestions so even if I don’t use it regularly I do dip in more often than before. Check out my page here. I’m amazed how much traffic my account receives so I’m sure with more dedication it’ll only grow.

Gain 2,000 Followers on Instagram & 4,000 on Twitter

I’m not the only one struggling to up the followers number on Instagram and like others, I don’t know the magical formula to make it happen. I’m very please to at least have crossed the 1,500 mark and from there, I soared up over 1,600 easily but I have no clue why. If I reach 2,000 by the end of the year I’ll be very pleased but I’m not too bothered if it happens. If you like my photos, brilliant, if you don’t, I don’t mind. The most important thing is that I’m happy with them and I am. Follow me here, if you’re not already.

I haven’t used Twitter as much throughout the year. I might not have gained many more followers, currently on 2,940 but I’m very pleased to see that many of my tweets gets likes and comments. No point in having followers if they won’t interact with me. 4,000 followers might not be achievable but 3,000 for sure! If you’re not already, you can follow me here.

How are you getting on with the goals you set yourself earlier this year?

I agree with you, public transport is very expensive, no wonder is always almost empty. In Liverpool, is cheaper for me and my husband to go with the car and pay all day parking (£4 in a good spot we know, close to the city centre), instead of paying for the bus. Also, if we park for free, further away from the centre, and walk for about 20 minutes (what we usually do), is much cheaper.
It seems you are doing good with your goals, beside the tattoo. But that is such a big thing, that you have to be sure you are happy with everything.

It’s ridiculous! They want people to use public transport for a healthier environment but it’s not going to happen with the prices. When you park for free you get a nice walk as well, perfect!
