I can’t believe it’s already a month ago since I was on holiday. I absolutely loved Spain and the sun so it was definitely the right holiday for me. I don’t think I’ve been on a similar holiday for the last 9 years or so. I normally opt for holidays where I can explore the city or the country I go to, not lazy days in the sun.
Best Cambrils Hotel
With an all inclusive deal we spent four days in Cambrils, one to two hours drive south of Barcelona. The area we stayed in felt like a built up hotel area, a la Desperate Housewives.
The hotel, Best Cambrils, is a 4 star hotel but I think that must be all inclusive standards, not UK or Swedish. Anyway, the bathroom was fresh and clean and I loved the pool area, not to mention the short distance to the beach: a 5 minute walk. We were also luckily to get a room on the top floor with the balcony facing the pool area and the beach. Stunning views both morning and evening.
Pool and Beach Area
All days were spent at the pool, drinking G&T’s, cooling down in the fresh water and soaking up the sun. The sun was warm enough to give us a well deserved tan but the October sun isn’t as strong so I managed without getting burnt. We found a great spot at the pool, close enough to the bar but secluded enough not having lots of people walking by.
The afternoons were made for the beach with heavenly good Mojitos and big waves. The beach had a lot less people so we had no problem getting served at the beach bar and enjoying swims in the salty sea. On the first day the waves were massive so I got caught scratching my leg at the bottom of the sea but nothing which scared me off. The other days were calmer with less big waves to enjoy.
Buffet Food All Day Long
We had plenty of time to enjoy the buffet food on offer at breakfast, lunch and dinner. I didn’t expect the food to be amazing but they definitely had something for everyone to enjoy so I was never hungry. It felt very luxurious to enjoy a glass or two of mimosa for breakfast, eating toast with cheese and salmon. Who would say no to that?
I particularly enjoyed the cheese and crackers, different meats marinated in garlic, parsley and coriander, the mussels and my body weight in gherkins. Some of the other food I just fancied taking pictures of but would never eat the jelly, not the octopus.
Have you ever been on an all inclusive holiday? What’s your experience?
