Models Own has opened up their first store outside of London and Leeds is the city of their choice. After seeing positive response in pop up stores in the area (you might have seen their massive nail polish bottle) Leeds seemed like the best option and I think they’re right.
Leeds is blooming right now with various new stores, bars and restaurants opening up. It’s not like we’re lacking in beauty brands or stores but I definitely think a young and vibrant brand like Models Own will do really well here. Leeds has a young demographic and not to mention all the lovely bloggers and we love shops like these.
I was one of the lucky to attend Models Own opening party in Leeds Trinity Centre last week and it was a great night. The champagne was flowing and later in the evening fun cocktails from The Alchemist was served, along with delicious canapés. The main reason we were there was of course for the makeup products. Everyone was oohing and aaing entering the colourful store, it has that affect.
The opening party captured the essences of the store and the brand; colourfulness and happiness.
We had plenty of time to familiarise ourselves with the store and the products and also talk to the people behind the brand. It’s always nice to support a family run business. We had the opportunity to get our nails done (after all Models Own started as a nail polish brand) and one of their beauty specialist gave Amy from Umpf (PR company who kindly invited me) a makeover. If you pop in to the store, their makeup specialists will gladly give recommendations and makeovers at their counters.
Previously I’ve only known Models Own as a nail polish brand (I own one bottle) but in the last year they have launched almost all the makeup products under the sun. It’s a fun brand with a lot of cool concepts and I want ALL their products.
What I really liked is the process of choosing your mascara. At Models Own you first decide on your type of mascara and then decide on the brush. This means you can buy several brushes depending on the affect your after but stick to the same mascara – brilliant!
Luckily Models Own is a very generous brand so we were given a big goody bag full of gorgeous products to take home. One of the products we received in the goody bag was a personalised contouring brush so I decided to get my first ever contouring kit to go with it. Being easily swayed from “this is our best selling product” and “doesn’t these lip glosses smell gorgeous” a highlighter and a new matte finish lipgloss with a mint scent. These were all kindly given to me for free before going home… #spoiltrotten
Have you been to the Models Own store in Leeds yet? If not, go, go, go! Let me know which of their products are your favourites. I’ll be practising and share a beauty post later with all the products received at the event so stay tuned for that.
