How is it already March?! As much as it’s scary how fast time flies, I’m ready to leave February behind. It’s been the month of weekend storms: Ciara, Dennis, Ellen and Jorge! I’m so over them and ready for spring. The sun has shown its face a couple of times giving me hope that it’s coming. I need the sunshine. When the sun is out, my mood, excitement and productivity increase. I hope March brings more sunshine and spring feels. I’ve set up my bullet journal for the month and ready to take it on.
March Bullet Journal Setup
For March, I decided to go with a air balloon theme. I’ve not been on a holiday in ages but hopefully my trip to Sweden in April will go ahead. I’m sure the Corona virus is under control by then. To help building the excitement I thought I’d combine my love of balloons with flying in this months them.
March Title Page
I experimented a bit with my Tombow brush pens and used them as water colours. When mixed with water, they give a smoother and lighter effect. I should have applied it on all pages really. It’s so simple. Colour in the balloon with the pen and then brush over with a little bit of water to fill the full shape. You don’t have to worry about it bleeding through the page but hold off until dry before outlining and create patterns.
March Monthly Spread
Like last month, I drew out March calendar in boxes but across both pages rather than only one. This way, I still have room for my ‘notes’, ‘waiting on’ and ‘blog & social ideas’ sections, but I don’t have to rotate the notebook to see the monthly overview. I think I’ll stay with this design every month moving forward.
March Mood & Monthly Tracker
In terms of layout, nothing has changed here. I was really happy with the outcome of my heart mood image from last month so decided to again draw out a big shape. Sticking to the monthly theme, it’s of course a massive air balloon which I have and divided into 31 sections, one for each day. I am hoping it’ll be a very colourful air balloon.
I have however changed up the different moods I use. I can get mad but it wouldn’t last long enough to justify filling in a full day with that mood so I’ve cut that out. I’ve also combined happy and excited as for me, they’re very similar.
March Weekly Spreads
Every month I’m going to go with a new design for this, where possible. Once I find my favourite, that’s the one I’ll stick to. So far I’ve tried rectangular boxes and simple line dividers. This time I’m back using boxes but more squared to give more space at the top of the pages. You will notice that I’m starting on Monday 2nd here. Only because I still have space left for Sunday in my February section and I didn’t see it necessary to take up a full new spread only for one day.
What theme have you gone with for your March bullet journal setup? What do you think to the Tombow watercolour effect?
