It’s been a while since I shared a blog post with you and for that, I’m sorry. My blog sadly always take a backseat when life gets busy. Work has been full on and the last thing I’ve wanted to do after a long day in front of the work laptop is to sit down with my personal laptop and blog. I don’t mind the long break, it’s nice to miss it. It also means that when I do come back, I have more energy and inspiration towards it.
Similar to my blog, Instagram also takes a backseat. The grid more so than stories. A great way to stay on top of it, I’ve found is taking part in an Instagram photo challenge. A month ago, I took part in Violet Glenton and Doorways & Dresses’ #LetInSpring challenge. I’ve never done a challenge like it before but I love spring and they released the prompts well in advance for me to have time to plan and shoot the photos. Some of them I adapted to spring and some I took a general approach to. Not only did I populate my feed, it was also a great way to discover new accounts and creators.

Spring in my step. I had a big clear out earlier in March and threw out lots of old shoes and clothes. I was ruthless to be honest but oh my, it felt really good. The reason I had a clear out is so I could make room for new shoes. I’ve been walking a lot in the last year so it was time for a refresh. I got myself a new pair of Nike Air Force 1 in black. I love them so much, already made up for the money spent.
First sight in the morning. I saw a lot of people sharing their cups of tea with the sun shining in through the window for this one. I too like to start my workday with a cuppa but before then, I’ve had time to do a workout so I shared a sweaty photo of myself. The first thing I see is myself in gym gear.
The little things. Honestly, it is the little things that makes a massive difference. I shared a photo of matching painted finger and toe nails for this one. With spring and summer, my hands and feet are on shoe more than during winter so it’s nice to have all nails painted. When they match, I feel really grown up. Anyone else? I should definitely invest in a more spring like colour.
Eggsactly what I love. Is there a better start to the weekend than with some form of eggs? I tend to fry mine as that’s the easiest way to not f*ck them up. I love a soft boiled egg as well, or scrambled with salmon, or a poached egg on toast. The latter I’ve never tried making myself as I’m scared of messing up. In spring time, chocolate eggs are also on the menu. How could you say no to mini eggs around Easter.
How I wear it. I guess I should have shared a spring style and outfit here but I decided to share a photo of how I style my guitar. In third lockdown I finally took the plunge and bought an acoustic guitar. I’m so happy with it and secretly I dream of becoming a country star. Look how great it looks together with a pair of cowgirl boots. I love these and I’m so happy I bought them when I visited Nashville years ago. I need to wear them more often!
Something blooming. Spring is my favourite season and I think it might be because it’s when tulips are in bloom. They’re my favourite flower, in any colour. I just had to share a photo of tulips for this prompt. Ever since they’ve been available in store, I buy a a new fresh bouquet every week to brighten up my flat. Honestly, they make me so happy. I wish I could buy them all year around.
One of a kind. Just in time for this photo challenge, I coloured my hair. I’m so happy to have finally found the colour I should have been born with. I know I’m one of a kind and don’t want to change who I am but sometimes it’s nice to enhance how you feel and this red colour matches just that. I love this red colour. It’s only a semi-permanent haircolour so I don’t have to worry about the roots, can just reapply when it’s washed out. It’s lasted me along while which is great and I like all shades of if along the way.
What photos would you have shared if you took part in this challenge? Have you taken part or organised Instagram challenges like this before?
