Leeds Indie Food 2018

It’s that time of the year again, Leeds Indie Food starts this week. 10th to 28th of May, a 19 day fully packed food and drink festival celebrating the independents around Leeds. Some events (the standard sell outs) are the same as previous years but there’s also many new collaborations and activities to discover.

I’ve got my hands on a passport, full of highlighted stars against the events I want to attend. You don’t need a passport but it’s a good investment if you’re going to several events. The benefits are that most of the tickets are reduced in price with a passport and you might also get some other freebies at the events. There’s a list full of other advantages at the back of the passport, such as food and drink discounts across multiple Leeds venues.

Here are my top 4 events which I’d like to attend.

Fettle Cafe breakfast

Find The Forest

An outdoor dining experience in collaboration with Beth Webber and Josh Whitehead. It’s a secret location which won’t be revelaed until en route. The 5-course meal will be cooked using seasonal ingredients from the Harewood estate.

Where? Secret Venue

When? Friday 18th and Saturday 19th 7.30pm

Sela Bar x Manjit’s Kitchen: Supper Club

Eat, drink and dance. Sela Bar has teamed up with Manjit’s Kitchen for a 3-course meal, celebrating everything Asian. Manjit’s Kitchen are also launching their own session IPA which will be poured for the first time at this event.

Where? Sela Bar

When? Monday 21st 7pm-1am

Whitelock’s Candlelit Victorian Banquet

I’ve only had food once at Whitelock’s and it was when my parents were visiting. On recommendation, we went for Sunday roast and like I’ve said before, the best I’ve had in Leeds so far! Being the oldest pub in Leeds, it makes sense they’re throwing a Victorian banquet during Leeds Indie Food.

Where? Whitelock’s

When? Sunday 27th 6pm-11pm

Brunch on the Ice: Fettle x NB°C

Scandinavian inspired Fettle cafe has teamed up with Northern Bloc (ice cream) for a little different brunch experience. You will have guessed it, it’s an ice cream brunch! I’ve been to Fettle once before and absolutely loved it. I’m so excited to head back for this exclusive collaboration at the end of the month. Being Swedish, I love ice cream. Swedes are the highest in world rank for buying and eating ice cream. Not only as a snack but as food, I can’t wait to tuck into a cold brunch.

Where? Fettle Cafe

When? Every day throughout the festival
