At the weekend, I took the train to Hull for an afternoon of blogger fun. I haven’t been to Hull in a while but it was nice going back and experiencing a new side to the city. The #HBMarchMeet was held in Al Porto, an Italian restaurant down by the docks. Really nice atmosphere and I loved the different light installations they had, very creative.
There were about 20 bloggers in total, most from Hull but a few more from other places in Yorkshire, so I wasn’t alone travelling to attend the lunch. I have only met Alex before but like always in the blogging community, everyone is so lovely and it was nice meeting new friendly faces, such as Samm and Courtney, exchanging blogging and life experiences.
To help the conversation flowing, we had been given a question each on our place cards. Even though we might not have needed them, they were good to steer away from the normal conversations. The most difficult one to answer was about our interest outside of blogging as most of us, in some way or another, write about our interests already. I hope to write about interior a lot more later in the year, once I find my own place and I get a chance to decorate and be creative again.
Al Porto Lunch Menu
Before coming to the event, we’d been asked to choose our meal orders, and I picked the Winter Salad. It did say on their lunch menu that it would also include sautéed potatoes but on serving, they were nowhere to be seen. A bit disappointing but there was so much food on the plate so I didn’t need them in order to get stuffed. Really nice flavour combinations with the salty chorizo, grilled chicken and fresh salad, topped with a lemon dressing. It all went down really well with a glass of rosé.
#HBMarchMeet Goody Bag
A massive thank you to Kat and Jenny for organising a lovely event. Sadly Kat couldn’t attend but hopefully I’ll be back soon to meet her too. They’ve done really well with the goody bags, so many products – feeling really spoilt!
