Stay Fit With #FitFoodBMF Recipe Book

5th January 2016 Comments : 2

It’s 2016 and January so I guess most of you, including me, are wanting to stay healthy and fit this year too. #FitFoodBMF Recipe Book is a good start to help fuel up with healthy food, before and after exercise, and for any other meal to be honest.

FitFoodBMF Recipe Book

I am not a massive fan of the gym, at least not lifting weights, and I’m happy if I can get away with not having to pay a monthly fee. Instead, I walk to and from work most days (1 hour each way) and I try where possible to also run home, twice a week. I should really try and step it up this year and also go running once every weekend.

After a run I never really feel massively hungry but it’s important to eat within an hour after exercise so I usually grab a healthy snack. My favourite is a yoghurt based snack which I’m so happy to announce has made it to the British Military Fitness #FitFoodBMF Recipe Book. I was delighted to take part in this project, spreading my healthy snack tips to other people wanting to get fit. I hope you’ll like it!

Lime Skyr with blueberries & granola

Lime Skyr With Blueberries & Granola

Ingredients

800g Skyr yoghurt
Zest of 1 lime
400g fresh blueberries
100g oatmeal
4 tbsp honey
2 tsp butter
Pinch of salt
Mint leaves, finely chopped

Method

1. To make the granola, mix the oatmeal, 3 tbsp of the honey, the butter and salt together with your fingers. Roast in the oven at 170°C for about 10–12 minutes until it is golden brown. Leave to cool.
2.  Mix the Skyr with the lime zest and the remaining tablespoon of honey – you can even add a little lime juice for extra flavour.
3.  In another bowl, mix the blueberries with the mint.
4.  Layer everything in glass bowls or glasses and enjoy as a light snack. Or it can work as a dessert or breakfast.

You can download the recipe book here, where you will find my recipe, along with 23 more amazing and healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack recipes. I can’t wait to try them all, especially the Cajun Fish Tacos and Thai-Style Sweet Chilli Glazed Salmon. It’s amazing to see that so many bloggers I already follow have taken part in this and now I’ve also found more blogs to read.

Do you have a healthy recipe to stay fit with?
