There are lost of different gin subscription boxes available at the moment. Craft Gin Club seemed to me like the best one after doing some research and when I received a 50% discount voucher for my first box, I decided to register. I signed up in the middle of May and received this month’s subscription box a week later.
What’s in the Craft Gin Club Subscription Box
The Craft Gin Club May 2021 box included a full sized bottle of Cuckoo Solace Gin, two bottles of Marlish English Tonic Water, one bottle of Pedrinho Ruby & Tonic Spritz, a small bottle of Cuckoo Bird Cocktail Syrup, gin garnish (dried lemons and juniper seeds), a Thatcher’s Rose Cider, a bag of Purely plantain chips, Mallow & Marsh double chocolate marshmallow bar, Sunbites roasted onion & turmeric, and Craft Gin Club’s own monthly gin magazine – Ginned!. I must say, this is a very generous box and I love that you receive a full sized bottle of gin. A craft gin that you’d normally not see on the high street.
Cuckoo Solace Gin
Cuckoo Solace Gin is a special edition gin for this month’s box, distilled at Brindle Distillery in Lancashire. It includes a heap of botanicals: juniper, coriander, angelica, grapefruit, , lemon, lime, rosemary, lemon thyme, basil, halkidiki olives, noceralla olives, cuquillo olives, orris root, cinnamon, liquorice root and cardamom. A lovely mix of botanicals, giving it a bright and fresh taste of citrus and long lasting notes of Mediterranean flavours.
One of the Ginned! magazine spreads include two suggestions of drinks to make with the gin of the month. May’s drinks are the ‘Perfect G&T’ and ‘Cuckoo Bird’.
50ml Cuckoo Solace Gin
200ml Marlish English Tonic Water
Dried lemon and juniper seeds
Fill a glass with ice and pour in the gin and tonic.
Stir gently and garnish with dried lemon and juniper seeds.
35ml Cuckoo Solace Gin
25ml Cuckoo Bird Cocktail Syrup
100ml Pedrinho Ruby & Tonic Spritz
Add all ingredients to a high ball glass filled with ice.
Stir gently before serving with a lime wheel as garnish.
I love this gin subscription box. I think it’s a great way to discover new to me gins, as well as tonics and ways of how to enjoy a simple G&T or other cocktails with gin as an ingredient. It’s cool that it also comes with snacks to try and the magazine is full of interesting articles, recipes and lots more.
The subscription is £40 per box and it’s up to you if you want to receive a full bottle of craft gin on a monthly basis, every other month or every three months. Since I live on my own, I went for the bi-monthly option, as I don’t think I’ll finish a full bottle in just a month. God news is, you can change how often you want to receive a box anytime. There’s also no minimum time to be signed up before terminating the subscription should you want to.
Are you signed up to any alcoholic monthly subscription boxes? Have you tried Craft Gin Club and if so, what you think to it? If no, would you be interested in signing up. If you are, sign up via this link and you’ll get £20 off your first box.
