The Chequered Shirt Dress + Giveaway

Oh the chequered shirt dress. For a long time now, I’ve wanted to expand my wardrobe with a shirt dress, preferably a chequered one. I think they look very smart, yet casual. I’m not very comfortable wearing regular shirts as they tend to have a thicker material and are usually tight around the chest. This shirt dress however is very soft with a flattering fit and in particular, it’s not tight over the chest. The neckline is a little bit too low for me so for now, I’ve used a pin to close it but I’m thinking to sew on metal poppers for a nicer look.

The shirt is so versatile and suitable for all weathers, with multiple ways of styling it. I can’t wait for warmer weathers to wear it on its own with the sleeves rolled up. For now, when it’s still cold I’ll be wearing it like in these photos, or tucked in my leather skirt to give the impression it’s a shirt. A great way to get around not normally wearing shirts.

The best bit about this shirt dress though has to be the pockets. I love dresses and skirts with pockets! Pockets on clothes makes such a massive difference. You never get the awkwardness of standing around not knowing where to put your hands. Put hem in the pockets and you’ll look cool. It definitely gives dresses and skirts a cooler vibe.

It was very windy on the day of taking these photos. And on top of it, during the 10 minutes I had spare at work lunch, it started to rain so excuse the photos not being the best. The wind was not in my favour, making my hair and skin (lol) flow about.

The sweater dress I’d wear with chunky knit tights and cute ankle boots.
The other dress I’d wear with natural tights and nude heels.

Love this post! For the sweater dress (which is my faaaaaave!) I’d wear fishnet tights, cherry red Dr Martens and a Baker Boy Hat with grunge make up! And for the body con dress I’d go for a bit of a biker look with a oversized faux leather jacket and some patent block heels and a red lip/cat eye liner x

You look fab in the checked shirt Jennie. I live in oversized shirts and leggings, they’re so comfy and great for all weathers. I love the open shouldered dress, it would look great with bare legs and over the knee boots or more casual with jeans or leggings.
