• Kalmar Postcards

    Postcards from Kalmar, Sweden

Late January I went for a week long visit to Sweden. I go every year and this time around, I truly appreciated the rest I got. I really needed it and it was nice not having to stress around meeting lots of people, only the ones that matter the most. On two occasions I also had some time to take lovely pictures of Kalmar and its nice surroundings which I wanted to share with you in this post. I was hoping for loads of snow but all that was left was a bit of ice in some places. If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen some of these…

  • Swedish Summers

There Ain’t No Summer Like Swedish Summers

For some reason, I always seem to go in August time when I visit Sweden during the Summer months. The first time I did this was because we were off to Way Out West (big music festival in Gothenburg) and for some reason, this timing has stuck with me since. The best part about going to Sweden in August is because it’s crayfish season and all of you following me on Instagram can’t have missed I think they’re ain’t no party like a crayfish party. There are other great reasons for going to Sweden in the summer time, not only in August. I thought I’d share them, as well as…

    Sales Haul In Sweden

Everytime I come to visit family and friends in Sweden, I HAVE to visit the shops England doesn’t have. I think I’ve done well, acclimatised myself with English shops that Sweden doesn’t have (Primark, River Island, Boots etc.) but I must admit that H&M for clothes and IKEA for home decorations are my first to go places, as they’re Swedish. There’s just something about Swedish fashion and design, I can’t help but to love it! Anyhow, when I visited Sweden for a week I wanted to check out what some of the shops had to offer in their sales (I had to keep it cheap in January) and I ended up…

    Ottenby Nature Reserve

Ottenby Nature Reserve is a place in the south of Öland, the island where I was born. I haven’t been to Ottenby since I was a child and I believe we went with school to learn more about their bird observatory. Many years later, yes I’m old, I was back to experience the area as a grown up. It only takes a couple of hours to get there by car. Well, that depends on where you live. My boyfriend and I set off from Kalmar around 10 in the morning and after a couple of short stops to see my birthplace and Alvaret we arrived to Ottenby just after lunch time. It was…

    Gröna Stugan: Kalmar’s best restaurant

My brother is the head chef at Gröna Stugan (The Green Cottage) in Kalmar. It’s one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to and I’m not saying that just because my brother works there. Earlier this year they were given top class grades in the White Guide which is a guide to all restaurants in Sweden. Only those with good enough score are mentioned in the book and this year, Gröna Stugan was named the best restaurant in Kalmar. I always make sure to go when I’m back in my home town and this time I brought my boyfriend. I thought it would be the best way for him…
