Last week I was invited to a Body Shop store event here in Leeds. It was a very small and intimate even but still really good. It gave me a chance to get expert advice from the trained staff working in the store.
The reason behind the event was to show off their new range in make-up and skin care. They also have a new manager and she wanted to get feedback from local bloggers on similar events. I hope they’ll do lots more as I love Body Shop and when they give you 35% discount it’s even better.
Laura, or possibly Lauren (I’m sorry, so bad with names sometimes) gave me a proper run through of all the latest make-up products that Body Shop have.
I was immediately drawn to the Honey Bronze range which was lined up on the table. The Shimmering Dry Oil looked gorgeous when applied on skin. It shimmered of gold which gives a nice finishing touch to a tanned look.
She also showed me their All-In-One range of make-up base which I was tempted to buy but I’ll have to wait to try it until my current BB Cream, Eye Primer and POREfessionals are empty. It would be great if I could finally find a brand which does all three and that I like them all. I doubt that Body Shop will be better than Benfit but who knows.
The product that got me hooked the most was the blue eyeliner. Most of the staff was wearing it on the night and it looked awesome with any eye colour. We tried it on my lower lash line and it looked really cool so I obviously bought the gel pen.
I also did a skin care consultation but the girl mostly complemented me on my nice skin. I however think it’s a bit too greasy, especially my T-Zone. She said I do most of the things I can do already to prevent it: regular exercise, drink lots of water and exfoliate 1-2 times a week. I suppose I just have to continue with that and hope for the best.
From the Camomile range she highly recommended the Waterproof Eye & Lip Make-up Remover and since I’m almost out of my current one this is also a product I bought. She said that you only need to apply a bit on a cotton pad, hold it for a while on the eyelid and then wipe off and it’s all gone. I can’t wait to try it!
Virgin Mojito Body Care
I saved the most exciting products till the end. I really miss the Lemon flavoured Body Butter that they used to sell but unfortunately they don’t stock it any more. This new, and annoyingly only temporary, scent is definitely a good replacement. Virgin Mojito makes you smell like the cocktail and I love that Body Shop are playing with it in their different pack you can buy.
My last session was hand massage where I got a proper exfoliation using the Body Scrub. A good long scrub and after rinsing and drying I got a massage of my hand and lower arm using the Body Sorbet. It was absolutely lovely and afterwards I could see a clear difference in skin on my arms. I’d already decided to buy the Body Butter but came home with the Body Scrub as well.
Body Shop Goody Bag
Before going home I was also lucky to be given a goody bag. The products came in a lovely tote bag. I can’t have too many of those, always so useful.
The bag contained a Pink Grapefruit Body Puree, a small Virging Mojito Body Butter (perfect for weekends away), Peppermint Cooling Foot Lotion and small samples of different creams and the latest Body Care range. I also got a small Olive Body Butter to take home as I renewed my membership.
A great night with fantastic products! I’ll write about them at a later time. Unfortunately I didn’t really get a chance to speak to fellow bloggers as there were only a few there and the staff was busy pampering me. I’m hoping to attend more events soon to get to know more bloggers in Leeds.
