    Leeds Light Night 2019 Highlights

Leeds Light Night* is back for its 15th year running. I was invited to the press evening to take a look at some of the 70 in total installations that are set out across 11 areas in Leeds city centre. You’ll notice many favourites coming back from previous years but there are also many new installations worth exploring. The overall theme of this year’s Light Night is Mind, Body and Spirit which all installations celebrate from everything between the human body’s intricacies to the landscapes of our dreams. With Love… My favourite new installation that I’ve so far seen is the massive red heart on the steps of Town Hall. It’s…

My First Impressions of The Lake District

The Lake District is one of England’s most gorgeous places but it’s taken me 10 years before visiting. I’ve been to the dales a plenty, once to the mountains of Wales and on a stunning day trip through Scotland’s landscapes but never set foot in Cumbria before. After going on the train ride between Carlisle and Leeds earlier this year, I realised what I’d been missing out on. So when the girls asked if I fancied a weekend away near Keswick, I couldn’t say no. On a side note, I pronounced Keswick with the w the first time I said it and people laughed. I get that it’s funny but…

    Three Easy Walks in Yorkshire

I have said this before – I love the outdoors! In the last couple of weeks, I’ve managed to get out in the countryside and go for some easy walks in Yorkshire. It’s been great and all three places are gorgeous, in their own rights. These are three easy walks in Yorkshire that anyone can do. They’re around 1-2 hours drive away from Leeds. Flamborough requires a car but the other two (Ilkley and Lumb Waterfalls) are also accessible via public transport. Flamborough I have been to Flamborough before, ages ago. I even wrote a post about it then as well. That time I didn’t go to Flamborough head and…

Second Hand Bargain Shopping in Headingley, Leeds

This month is #SecondHandSeptember, which means we should try where possible to buy used products in vintage and charity shops. Have you made any conscious decisions to reduce your consumption of new things? I find it really hard not to buy new things but I’m happy for them to be second hand, it doesn’t bother me. Maybe not everything, but you get the jist. If I can save £5 buying a book that’s only been read once before, for one I’ll most likely also only read once, it’s a bargain. Buying second hand clothes has other benefits than being cheaper than on the high street. You’re most likely going to…

Healthy Snack Ideas for Sweet Tooths

Have you got a sweet tooth? I do! I hate that I can’t stay away from sweet treats but I have learnt that by allowing myself healthy sweet snacks now and again, I can control the urge. It is harder at a certain time of the month, I’m not going to lie. Then all I want is to clear out the whole chocolate isle in any store – sign me up to Supermarket Sweep! But for the most of the time, I do really well. For those times when I fancy a sweet snack, I have a couple of healthy snack ideas which minimise the calorie intake, ups your protein…
