The Cocktail Experience in Leeds is back again this year. I was unable to attend last year but will be there with bells on this time. Any opportunity to try a mix of delicious cocktails from different local pubs and bars. Earlier this week, I attended the preview event to get a feel for what we can expect on March 3rd. I’ve picked out my three favourites not to miss at the main event and surprisingly, they’re all gin based.
RUBY – Jake’s Bar
Jake’s are known for creating all their own ingredients used in all their cocktails. They’re planning a really cool concept; letting guests sign up for a masterclass to make their own cocktails which will be served in the bar and also be collated and published in a booklet. I think that’s a fabulous concept! Wouldn’t it be cool to have your own made cocktail served in a bar?
Anyway, for The Cocktail Experience event they chose to make a very fruity and powerful gin cocktail bursting with flavour.
Fifty Pounds Gin
Homemade Superberry Teo Distillate
Homemade Pomegranate & Blueberry Syrup
Homemade Pomegranate Sherbet Rim
MARIGOLD – 53 Degrees North
53 Degrees North only opened up mid year last year so it’s a relatively new bar to Leeds. They’ve got three branches in Halifax and decided to open up two of those in Leeds, 53 Degrees North focusing on cocktails and Ricci’s on food.
At The Cocktail Experience they will be serving a flower powerful gin cocktail. It tastes as nice as it looks. It’s got it all – lovely presentation (glass and decoration) and taste. A fresh summery taste, it’s almost like summer in liquid form.
Pink Grapefruit Juice
Dash Apple and Quince Bitters
Fevertree Aromatic Tonic Water
CLARA – Pintura
I’m ashamed to admit but I’ve never been to Pintura. How is that event possible, I love gin and I love tapas. Oh well, one day I’ll go, hopefully sooner rather than later.
For The Cocktail Experience, Pintura has put together a fresh citrusy flavoured gin cocktail which is really easy to drink. It’s got a twist from the regular citrus flavoured gin cocktails as it also comes with a little bit of beer and a salty rim.
Death’s Door Gin
Top with Ting and a Splash of Beer
Obviously, gin based cocktails aren’t the only ones to enjoy. If you like whiskey, coffee (I don’t but I actually drank the whole salted caramel Kaluha based cocktail. What’s happening to me?!), bourbon, champagne, basically any alcohol With 18 bars and pubs taking part, there’s bound to be something for everyone to enjoy.
So, who will I see at The Cocktail Experience event at Aspire on March 3rd? Tickets are £15-25 and you can buy them here (they’re selling fast).
